Lake Oconee boasts a thriving, active community. From world-renowned golf courses to its miles of stunning waterfronts, there’s an abundance of opportunities to enjoy the best of central Georgia. But joint aches and pains can keep some from fully loving the lake life.

Girl Scouts learn about water safety

When local Girl Scout Troop leader Tiffany Ogden contacted George Craig at H20 Adventures about teaching a multi-age and skill-level kayaking class, as a former Girl Scout leader herself, Craig jumped at the chance to help parents and their girls put safety before fun.

OUTDOORS: Vets fish Lake Oconee in charity tournament

WILD Jaeger Veteran Adventures (WJVA) hosted a charity bass tournament on Sept. 24, in conjunction with Georgia Bass Trails at Sugar Creek Marina on Lake Oconee. The weather for the event was nothing short of spectacular, though it did warm up quite a bit into the afternoon.

Dual Vision debuts at Eatonton’s Barrel 118

Since 2017, The Artisans Village Guild has collaborated with the Associated Photographers of Lake Oconee photo club for the Dual Vision: Art Through Different Eyes exhibition. This year the number of participating artists was larger and the artwork and photos were better than ever.

‘Mark the Magic Man’ to appear at The Plaza

Local magician and entertainer, Mark the Magic Man, has two shows scheduled for Oct. 15, at The Plaza Arts Center in Eatonton. The first is a 3 p.m. family-friendly presentation, followed by an 8 p.m. show strictly for an adult (18-and-older) audience.

Eatonton helps methane conversion project

A revolutionary environmental project in Putnam County moved a step closer to reality Monday night when the Eatonton City Council approved an agreement with a company planning to convert methane gas from dairy cow manure to commercial natural gas.
