Last week, fine art teachers from the Putnam County Charter School System came to perform and display their art at The Plaza. I stayed that night as the attendant for the theater, but I sure am glad I was working that evening.

Part of the stated mission for The Plaza Arts Center in Eatonton is to bring the arts to the local community. Late last month, during the pre-show sound check for The Doo Wop Project at The Plaza, a group of local students ranging from high school freshmen to college-aged – each interested in pursuing a career in the arts – had the unique opportunity of speaking one-on-one with the show’s stars.

The New York City-based Doo Wop Project played to a full house Saturday night at The Plaza Arts Center in Eatonton, treating nostalgic fans, young and old(er), to a wide array of songs from the 1940s to the present day.
