Burglar pauses for a cup of java at Madison City Hall

A burglar who was brazen enough to break into Madison’s temporary city hall and make himself a pot of coffee after ransacking several city offices has been arrested. Jimmy Lee Love, 65, of Madison faces theft and criminal damage to property charges following the incident.

Man eludes arrest by driving into the woods

A man driving a Land Rover at dangerously high speeds along rural roads in western Morgan County was able to elude Morgan County deputies after he drove across a field and into the woods on Oct. 1.

Sheriff’s office deploys license plate-reading cameras

Morgan County Sheriff Robert Markley announced the activation of Flock License Plate Reader (LPR) cameras throughout the county last week. According to a press release sent from the MCSO, Markley is excited about this new tool and its potential for public safety enhancement.

Thief steals cash drawers and tequila from Dos Amigos

A popular Mexican restaurant on Eatonton Road in Madison was burglarized on the night of Monday, Aug. 15. Madison police officer Mike Maxwell was dispatched to Dos Amigos after employees found the door that opens to the patio seating area shattered when opening the restaurant at 7:30 a.m.

Ingles employee robbed in store parking lot

According to a report obtained from the Madison Police Department, a customer service manager for Ingles was assaulted and robbed in the Ingles parking lot July 28. Sgt. Jeremy Hoffman responded to the incident and spoke with the victim Sidney Franklin.
