Carver cuts Lady Dogs from playoff picture

Morgan County (20-8) met its match on Friday against top-seed and Class AAA’s No. 4-ranked Carver-Columbus (20-9) in the second round of the Class AAA state playoffs. The Lady Tigers advanced in the Sweet 16 tilt with a dominant 94-31 win over the No. 2 seed Lady Dogs.

Former MCHS assistant principal sentenced to 25 years

Almost a decade after he left North Oconee High School to replace retiring assistant principal Kenny Moore at Morgan County High School, Ryan Rickard has been sentenced to 25 years with 15 years to be served in confinement and the remainder on probation, according to court documents.

Diamond Dogs expect region title, playoff berth in 2023

Morgan County baseball has seen a lot of success under head coach Merritt Ainslie and entering his eighth year, the Bulldogs are primed to make another deep run in the state playoffs.

Mat Dogs qualify seven for state finals

This past weekend, the Morgan County wrestling team had a strong showing at the Class AAA sectionals. The Mat Dogs qualified 13 wrestlers for the state sectionals after capturing the Area 4-AAA title two weeks ago, and seven of them are now headed to the state finals this upcoming weekend in Macon.

Hephzibah eliminates Bulldogs from playoff contention

No. 4-seed Hephzibah defeated No. 5-seed Morgan County 76-65 in the first round of the Region 4-AAA tournament on Monday.  The Rebels (10-12) punched their ticket to the Class AAA state playoffs and will move on to the semifinals of the region tournament.

Bulldogs take new ‘perspective’ heading into region tournament

Morgan County boys’ basketball has struggled under new head coach Cody Anderson this season. The Bulldogs recently ended the regular season with a 72-65 victory over Harlem; however, they’ve lost three of four heading into next week’s region tournament as the No. 5 seed.

3-Peat: Mat Dogs win third straight area meet

Morgan County wrestling added another achievement to its resume this past weekend in Harlem. The Mat Dogs competed in the Area 4-AAA meet and left with a first-place finish. Morgan County also had numerous wrestlers punch their tickets to the Class AAA state sectionals.

Jenkins, Thurmond make history by competing at state meet

Morgan County added a new sport this school year and it already has experienced considerable success. The Bulldogs’ new diving team features only two divers in freshman Caroline Jenkins and sophomore Sidney Thurmond; however, both qualified for the state diving championships on Jan.

BASKETBALL: Lady Dogs building ‘chemistry’ as they stay hot

The Morgan County girls’ basketball team rode a seven-game winning streak into this week.  The Lady Dogs also went 3-0 in that span and defeated two Region 4-AAA foes in the process. Morgan County head coach Milfred Franklin can see his girls building ‘chemistry.
