Second-half surge leads Tigers past Titans

Burt scores 1,000th point as Greene tops Towns

Tigers thriving against tough competition

The Greene County boys’ basketball team recently ended the first part of the regular season with a winning record.The Tigers have an overall record of 7-6, having faced tough competition through the first two months of the season.

After a solid junior season, Greene County basketball’s Laryous Burt wants to play at the next level.Burt, a 6-foot-3, 185-pound rising senior for the Tigers, enters his final season with zero offers.

Greenforest ends Tigers’ season in second round

Greenforest ended Greene County’s turnaround season this past Saturday night in a Class A Division II postseason tilt. The top-seed Eagles easily topped the Tigers 73-32, eliminating them from the state playoffs.Greene County defeated Johnson County 75-61 on Feb.

Greene County girls, boys sweep Washington-Wilkes to advance to state

Both of Greene County’s basketball teams competed against Washington-Wilkes Tuesday, Feb. 13 during the second round of the region tournament. The Tigers and Lady Tigers each topped their opponents and qualified for the Class A Division II state playoffs, which starts next week.

Tigers get back on track, eyeing region title

After suffering a devastating loss to Warren County on Jan. 26, Greene County basketball has bounced back. The Tigers (16-7, 10-3 Region 8 - Class A Division II) have won three straight heading into the final week of the regular season.

Towns hands Tigers first region loss

No. 7 Towns County managed to erase a 13-point halftime deficit to defeat Greene County 78-77 on Jan. 16. The Indians handed the Tigers (13-5), who entered the game on a four-game winning streak, their first region loss.
