A disagreement between two groups of people led to the shooting heard in downtown Greensboro in the early morning hours of Sunday, March 3, Greensboro Assistant Police Chief Tommy Nelson told the Lake Oconee News.

Greene County deputies and Greensboro police officers assisted the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office with a police pursuit on Sept. 23 and helped bring an end to the chase, but the suspect shot himself in the head before he could be taken into custody.

A Greene County mother is exploring a recall of Greensboro’s mayor and three city council members over concerns regarding the handling of her son’s arrest by the Greensboro Police Department that led a jury to convict him to a lengthy sentence.
