RaceTrac coming soon to Greensboro

A groundbreaking ceremony occurred last Friday for a new RaceTrac gas station and convenience center at Oconee Towne Center alongside Hwy. 44, just south of I-20 between Chick-fil-A and the soon-to-be-open Longhorn Steakhouse.

State threatens to close personal care home

Representatives of the Savannah Court personal care home on Willow Drive in Greensboro and the Georgia Department of Community Health were in Greene County court Wednesday. Savannah Court at Lake Oconee, a 72-bed facility, received a Notice of Intent to Revoke Permit from the state agency on Aug.

Harbor Club residents seek control over community issues

Residents of Harbor Club have formed a task group to address taking control of the Property Owners Association (POA). This comes on the heels of concerns addressed earlier in the year about a big subdivision that was proposed adjacent to Harbor Club, which, for now, is off the table.

Rezoning and Courthouse draw crowd to city council

It was a full house at the Greensboro City Council meeting in Festival Hall Monday night. Two items on the agenda appeared to attract the crowd – a major rezoning request and the future of the Greene County Courthouse building.

Local Rotary Club celebrates International Peace Day

The Rotary Club of Greene and Putnam Counties celebrated International Peace Day on Sept. 21 with a celebration at the Rotary Peace Pole located at the Pete Nance Boys and Girls Club. International Peace Day was originally established in 1981 by the United Nations General Assembly.

Proposed developments could increase truck traffic at Exit 130

Work continues at Exit 130 of I-20 in Greene County on a new Holiday Inn Express, Longhorn Steak House and RaceTrac gas station that will soon join recently opened Starbucks and Jersey Mike’s shops.
