Greene County Safe and Secure Foundation donates essential equipment

In anticipation of National First Responder’s Day on Oct. 28, Charles Middleton and the Greene County Safe and Secure Foundation took the opportunity to donate essential equipment to agencies in Greene County tasked with providing public safety, including the Greene County Sheriff’s Office, Greensboro Police Department, Greene County Fire Departments and EMS Ambulance Services.

A Kansas man and a Texas man were arrested on marijuana trafficking charges Oct. 17, following a traffic stop on I-20 in Greene County that resulted in the discovery of 20 pounds of marijuana.

GCSS names five students to 2023 REACH Georgia Scholarship cohort

The Greene County School System (GCSS) has named five 8th grade students to this year’s class of REACH Georgia Scholarship recipients. TiraJai Heath, Jamari Johnson, Justin Robertson, and Torriah Stinson from Anita White Carson Middle School and Jack Alvarez from Lake Oconee Academy make up the Greene County School System’s sixth class of REACH scholars since the school system joined the program in 2017 under the guidance and encouragement of Tom Kelly, co-founder with his wife Kathy of the Greensboro Dreamers.

The Georgia PGA Senior Division’s Tour Championship, sponsored by Jennifer Vaughan with Ansley Real Estate Christie’s International, took place Oct. 10-11, at Reynolds Lake in Greensboro. The two-day tournament was played on the Oconee Course and Great Waters.

Bank building purchase puts city on defense

A Greensboro real estate investor and resident have made her concern heard about an earlier purchase by the city of Greensboro. Maria Wayne inquired about the status of the former BB&T branch that has sat vacant since its purchase by the city in October of 2018.
