High speed chase through six counties ends in Greene

A high-speed chase that went through six counties, including Putnam and Morgan, ended Monday evening with an arrest in Greene County, according to authorities.

Man shot in Union Point; suspect in custody

One man is in jail and another is hospitalized in Athens following a shooting in Union Point on Oct. 10. Antonyo Jamone Brown, 20, of Union Point faces charges of aggravated assault and will also be charged with child endangerment because there were children in the area at the time of the shooting.

Harrowing motorcycle chase along I-20 ends with crash

Morgan County deputies chased down a speeding motorcycle that began fleeing from law enforcement on I-20, continued across half a dozen surface streets and ended when the motorcyclist was forced into the grass by a deputy and crashed.

Jury convicts Alabama pair of armed robbery

A Greene County jury deliberated for less than 20 minutes on Aug. 25 before delivering guilty verdicts for an Alabama pair charged with armed robbery. Haiden Corley, 21, formerly of Cottondale, Alabama, was sentenced to life in prison for his role in the armed robbery of the Siloam Chevron on Feb.

Woman knocked out of her shoes; driver charged with assault

A Union Point woman is facing charges of aggravated assault after allegedly intentionally hitting a woman with her car on July 31. Carshuna Yvette Smith, 28, also faces charges of criminal trespass in the wake of the incident.
