The Greene County boys basketball team found some momentum this past weekend after winning consecutive games for the first time this season.

The Greene County girls basketball team hosted Lake Oconee Academy for the second installment of the region rivalry last Friday evening.

On the first day of February, Greene County’s Arkiyus Wright signed his letter of intent to play football at Cumberland University in Lebanon, Tennessee.

At the beginning of the 2021-22 school year, former athletic director Eddie Hood wanted to create something that brought Greene County alumni back to interact with current students and athletes. To do so, Hood introduced the “Ring of Honor” to the school’s culture, and now as principal, has held it for two consecutive years with the most recent ceremony coming during last week’s homecoming contest against Warren County.

Greene County High School students made significant gains on the College Board’s Advanced Placement course tests in 2022, showing a six-point gain in the percentage of students earning a qualifying score of at least three on the exams over 2019, the last year before the COVID pandemic.

Greene County football started its final week of summer practice on Monday. The Tigers were dressed in shells - shorts, shoulder pads, and helmets - as a part of the GHSA’s “acclimation week” before the start of fall camp, which begins next week.
