Morgan softball earns All-Region honors

The Morgan County High School softball team recently had several players earn All-Region honors.One Lady Dog player earned an individual award, nine were named to the All-Region team, and one garnered honorable mention. Third-year head coach Chad Pigg also received a prestigious postseason honor.

The Morgan County softball team has concluded its 2025 season, following its third consecutive trip to Columbus.The Lady Dogs ultimately ended their trip as the runner-up in Class 2A, after falling 6-2 to Sonoraville on Nov. 1.Morgan County finished the 2025 season with a 25-10 overall record.

The Morgan County softball team (18-8) took care of business in the first round of the state playoffs last week.The No. 3 seed Spike Dogs swept No. 30 Tattnall County, winning 12-0 and 14-2 to advance to the next round.

Morgan County’s softball team recently captured its second straight region title under coach Chad Pigg.The Lady Dogs defeated Jackson on Senior Night to secure the Region 2-AA championship. They also entered the season's final week with a 19-3 overall record and a 14-0 mark in region play.

Morgan County softball has recently been on a tear and is in a good position a few games into region play.After knocking off Jackson 8-0 on Tuesday, the Lady Dogs improved to 7-2 overall and 4-0 in the region.
