Big-league teams are already playing games at training camps in Florida and Arizona.Players essentially report one day and play a game the next. In the old days, the routine was very different.

Greenforest ends Tigers’ season in second round

Greenforest ended Greene County’s turnaround season this past Saturday night in a Class A Division II postseason tilt. The top-seed Eagles easily topped the Tigers 73-32, eliminating them from the state playoffs.Greene County defeated Johnson County 75-61 on Feb.

Greene girls fall in second round to Taylor County

Four quarters weren’t enough for Greene County and Taylor County in last Friday’s second-round playoff tilt.The two teams were tied at the end of regulation.

Gators season ends at state quarterfinals

“Just nothing went our way.”That was the simple takeaway of Gatewood head coach Don Keiser after a dominant 2023-24 season ended Saturday afternoon for his region championship-winning team.

Morgan County Track & Field prepares for season-opening meet

Morgan County’s track and field team is ready for its first meet this weekend under a new coach.The Bulldogs will travel to Mill Creek High School for the Jerry Arnold Challenge, containing 30-plus teams from across the state.

From Sweet to Elite: Lady Dogs shock top-seed Calvary Day

Morgan County’s girls basketball is heading to the Elite Eight after upsetting top-seed Calvary Day on Feb. 23rd.  The Lady Dogs defeated the Lady Cavaliers 46-37, advancing to the quarterfinals for the first time in seven years.

Bosart leads LOA to fourth-straight region title

With the region championship game on the line, Lake Oconee Academy senior Georgia Bosart just took over.  Bosart didn’t play much in the first half due to early foul trouble, but she took over in the second half, especially in the fourth quarter.

Georgia’s own Mecole Hardman will be long remembered when Super Bowl histories are recalled. His three-yard touchdown catch last Sunday was not that spectacular as far as spectacular plays go, but what it meant for the Kansas City Chiefs will make him a hero forever.

‘Not the same Greene County baseball’

Greene County baseball’s team started a new era last week under the direction of first-year coach Brad Evans. The Tigers opened up the season with a 9-5 loss to Cross Creek, but their first victory came against Laney the following day.

Young, defensive effort leads Lady Dogs to first-round win

Defense and junior Jaden Young helped Morgan County top Dougherty in Tuesday’s first-round playoff tilt. Young scored 18 points for the Lady Dogs, who defeated the Lady Trojans 49-41 to advance to the Sweet 16 round of the Class 3A state playoffs.
