LOA's Ian Watson never dreamed of such an honor

Lake Oconee Academy’s Ian Watson didn’t believe the news when he was named Region Player of the Year.The senior shortstop recently learned of the announcement before the Titans’ historic playoff run ended.“I’m very honored. I never thought I would’ve won it in a million years,” Watson said.

Lady Dogs' soccer rack up postseason honors

The Morgan County girls’ soccer team had nine players garner All-Region 4-AAA honors this year.Rylee Bernard, Campbell Stamps, McKinsey Williams, and Kate Reynolds earned First Team honors. Jaden Young, Chloe Cook, Katherine Tybor, Carly Hagler, and Mia McClain were named to the Second Team.

Tigers show out at state meet

COMMERCE — Greene County’s track and field team had a strong showing at the Georgia High School Association’s Class A Division II state meet over the weekend at East Jackson High School.Greene County’s teams combined to have over a dozen athletes compete at the state’s highest level.

Morgan County T&F competes at state meet

Morgan County High School’s track and field team recently competed at the Class AAA state meet.After a strong showing at the sectionals meet, Morgan County traveled to Hugh Mills Stadium in Albany to face some of the best competition in their classification.

Titans’ historic season ends in semifinal

Defending Class A Division II champion Charlton County ended Lake Oconee Academy’s historic season on the diamond last Friday by sweeping the semifinal series and advancing to the state final.

Gators state-bound in baseball – again

The defending state champion Gatewood Gators advanced to their fourth consecutive GIAA Class AA championship series last Friday with a doubleheader sweep in the semifinals over the Southwest Georgia (SWG) Warriors.The Gators easily won the first game 14-2 over SWG in just four-and-a-half innings.
