Greene County, Washington-Wilkes renew rivalry

Greene County (5-1) will be at Washington-Wilkes (3-4, 0-1 Class A Divison II Region 8) this Friday.This week’s game will be the region opener for the Tigers from Greensboro. They haven’t played since beating Miller Grove 33-0 on Sept.

LOA softball captures region championship

Lake Oconee Academy softball claimed the region title after defeating Lincoln County 13-3 last week.  It was a first-place battle between the Lady Titans and Lady Red Devils down the stretch.

‘Dogs weather storm, defeat Hurricanes

Morgan County again proved why it is ranked No. 2 in Class AA against Rutland last Friday.The Dogs easily defeated the Hurricanes 55-12, improving to 7-0 overall and 2-0 in Region 2-AA play. They never trailed and jumped out to an early lead, thanks to junior running back Christian Monfort.

LOA aims for strong start in region play

Following a two-week hiatus due to Hurricane Helene, Lake Oconee Academy’s football team (5-1) returns to the gridiron this Friday as it travels to take on Warren County (4-2) to begin region play.Last week’s game against Washington Wilkes was postponed until Nov.

Spike Dogs capture region title

Morgan County volleyball recently defeated Jackson in straight sets to capture the Region 2-AA title.The Spike Dogs enter the playoffs ranked No. 1 Class AA with a 32-4 record and an undefeated mark in region play. They have set their sights on winning a second state championship in three years.

Etienne helps Georgia tame Tigers

Trevor Etienne helped spark Georgia’s offense on Saturday with a win over rival Auburn.The No. 5 Bulldogs (4-1, 2-1 SEC) have struggled on that side of the ball, but Etienne racked up 124 yards of total offense and scored two touchdowns in a 31-13 victory over the Tigers (2-4, 0-3).

Georgia ready to ‘cut loose’ against Mississippi State

No. 5 Georgia (4-1, 2-1 SEC) will host Mississippi State (1-4, 0-2) on Saturday for a 4:15 p.m. kickoff.The Bulldogs of Starkville have struggled this season in head coach Jeff Lebby’s first season at the helm. However, they got a bye last Saturday to rest and prepare to face the Bulldogs of Athens.

‘Playing for each other’: Lady Dogs capture region crown

Morgan County’s softball team recently captured its second straight region title under coach Chad Pigg.The Lady Dogs defeated Jackson on Senior Night to secure the Region 2-AA championship. They also entered the season's final week with a 19-3 overall record and a 14-0 mark in region play.
