Morgan track & field excels at region meet

Both of Morgan County’s track and field teams recently competed in the Region 2-AA meet at Jackson High School, finishing in second place.The two second-place finishes impressed head coach Kelan Fraise. He is eager to see what his athletes can accomplish at sectionals this week.

Tigers get signature win in regular season finale

Greene County baseball’s regular season finale on April 18 against Hephzibah was memorable for a few reasons.It was the team’s first home game of the season and their first in several years after the field underwent much-needed renovations.

LOA golf sweeps area tournament

Lake Oconee Academy’s golf teams demonstrated once again why they’re among the top programs in Class A Division II by winning their area tournaments at Harbor Club in Greensboro on Monday.The Titans and Lady Titans now head to play in the Class A Division II state tournament in late May.

Lake Oconee Academy’s tennis teams blazed their way through the region tournament, earning the title of champions.The Lady Titans have now won four consecutive region titles, and the Titans are back on top, coming up just short and finishing in second place last year.

Three Dogs sign to play at next level

Last Friday, three Morgan County soccer players put pen to paper as they signed to play soccer at the college level.Both Blake Downs and Chase Link signed to play at Truett-McConnell College, and Teddy Young is headed to Toccoa Falls College.

Gators baseball ‘clicking’ as playoffs await

Gatewood improved its record to 17-6 last week with a sweep of Windsor Academy and a big win over Pinewood Christian.The wins are racking up for the Gators, impressing head coach Brandon Moss, who thinks the team is starting to peak at the right time.“We have just hit our stride,” Moss said.

Tigers continue to make progress despite youth

Greene County’s baseball team is young, but they’re learning fast.The Tigers are playing a non-region schedule, which means they’re not eligible for the postseason, so the pressure to win is not at the forefront. While they want to succeed, head coach Brad Evans is trying to teach the basics.

Morgan County’s tennis teams recently dominated the Region 2-AA championships, winning both titles.They both blazed their trail through the region tournament, capturing the top seed heading into the playoffs earlier this week.
