Hornets sting Dogs in quarterfinals

Morgan County’s season ended on Nov. 28 in the GHSA Class 2A quarterfinal with a 34-22 loss to Hapeville Charter.The Dogs made too many mistakes and didn’t execute, allowing the Hornets to capitalize.

Titans to replace key production from last year

Lake Oconee Academy lost much of its production from the 2024-25 basketball season and aims to replace it this year.The Titans lost their leading scorer, Canon Mullen, whose dad, Dan Mullen, accepted a job as the head football coach at the University of Las Vegas, Nevada.

Walker leads Georgia past 49ers

 Bo Walker had a breakout performance for No. 4 Georgia against Charlotte.The freshman running back scored three rushing touchdowns, achieving a hat trick to help the No. 4 Bulldogs comfortably defeat the 49ers 35-3 in the home regular-season finale Nov. 22 at Sanford Stadium.

Dawgs, Yellow Jackets to renew Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate

After last season’s eight-overtime game, which featured a large halftime deficit, No. 4 Georgia (10-1) and No. 15 Georgia Tech (9-2) will renew their annual rivalry, called “Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate,” this Friday in Atlanta.

LOA softball racks up All-Region awards

The Lake Oconee Academy softball team had nine players garner All-Region honors following the 2025 season.Highlighting the postseason awards list for the Titans was Kaitlyn Mamay. She was named Region Pitcher of the Year following an impressive sophomore campaign.

Wild Things returning to Lake Country

The 2025 season marked a significant milestone for the Lake Oconee Wild Things baseball program as the collegiate baseball team relocated to Greensboro under new ownership after previously competing at Reinhardt University in Waleska.

Dogs win track meet over Wolverines, advance to second straight quarterfinal

Morgan County is headed back to the Class 2A quarterfinals for a second straight season.The No. 4 seed Dogs triumphed over No. 13 Miller Grove 49-28 on Nov. 21 to advance.“I’m just really proud of our guys,” Morgan County head coach Clint Jenkins said after the game.

Georgia defense gets ‘down and dirty’ against Longhorns

Georgia delivered its best defensive performance of the season against Texas this past Saturday in a 35-10 win. The Longhorns struggled to get anything going offensively, as the Bulldogs’ defense was dominant.
