Williams to become new AD at GCHS

Greene County High School officially announced its hiring of Derrick Williams to become the Tigers’ new athletic director on social media this past week.

Nine Diamond Dogs earn All-Region honors

The Morgan County baseball team recently had nine players garner All-Region 4-AAA honors. The Diamond Dogs also had two players earn individual awards for their efforts this past season. Sam Schofield was named the Region 4-AAA Pitcher of the Year.

Allen earns Region 4-AAA Player of the Year honor

Cooper Allen knew that his final season at Morgan County was going to be successful. Despite losing to Coahulla Creek again in the Class AAA state playoffs, he was satisfied with his team’s success, especially after overcoming so many obstacles.

UGA headed to postseason as No. 2-seed in UNC Regional, set to face VCU on Friday

Georgia (35-21) learned that its season will continue into the NCAA playoffs on Monday. The Diamond Dogs are set to travel to Chapel Hill, NC., and will be the No. 2-seed in the UNC Regional. Georgia will face No. 3-seed VCU (40-18) on Friday at 7 p.m.

A tale of two fish

Titans win back-to-back state championships in golf

Lake Oconee Academy is a golf factory. Recently, the Titans won their second straight GHSA Class A-Public state championship. Also, senior Rylan Black, who is signed to play golf collegiately at Kennesaw State next year, won his second consecutive low-medalist trophy.
