Titans’ Ja’Quon Hall receives offer from Sewanee University

Lake Oconee Academy’s football program has only been around for a few years, but some players have already benefited from its start. Rising senior Ja’Quon Hall is the most recent example of a Titan to get some action on the recruiting trail to play at the next level.

Gators’ basketball visits Athens, attends UGA camp

Several members of the Gatewood boys’ basketball team recently experienced something special. Earlier this month, seven Gators’ varsity hoops players and head coach Don Keiser made the hourlong trip north on U.S. 441 to attend a basketball camp at the University of Georgia in Athens.

Chad Pigg named new Lady Dogs’ softball coach

Morgan County High School didn’t have to look far in hiring new head softball coach Chad Pigg. Pigg was previously the head softball coach at Harris County, where new MCHS head baseball coach Steve Westmoreland came from.

Morgan County basketball hosts summer youth basketball camp

This summer, the Morgan County basketball program has been trying to develop the skills of local players of all competition levels. Most recently, the Bulldog staff hosted a youth basketball camp during the first full week of June.

Hopper promoted to Lady Tigers’ head coach

The Greene County girls basketball program is coming off its first winning season since 2013-14, and they look to continue to build off that success with newly hired head coach Steven Hopper. Hopper takes over the position with multiple years of coaching experience in a variety of different sports.

Tigers tab Smith as new school athletic director

Greene County High School principal Eddie Hood and other school board members recently made the decision to hire Chad Smith as the Tigers' new athletic director. Smith, most recently the athletic director at Central Gwinnett High School, steps into the position with 25 years of experience.

Titan baseball players earn All-Region honors

The Lake Oconee Academy (LOA) baseball team had one of its most successful seasons in 2023. The Titans won a program-record 18 games and advanced to the second round of the state playoffs for the first time.

Six Gators named All-Region, five All-State

After the most successful season in more than three decades for the Gatewood baseball program, the Gators were able to bring home their first state title since 1990. And the accolades did not stop there.

Bulldogs compete in 7-on-7 at Athens Academy, UGA

Morgan County football started its summer with a bang following the GHSA-mandated dead week. Last week, the Bulldogs competed against other local teams in a passing camp at Athens Academy and recently attended the Kirby Smart 7-on-7 camp at the University of Georgia on Tuesday.

Multiple Lady ‘Dogs shine during summer camps

Even though the 2022-23 school year just ended less than a month ago, the Morgan County girls basketball team has already been putting in work to get better this offseason.
