Black qualifies for 74th U.S. Girls’ Junior Championship

After being named the GHSA Class A Division II Golfer of the Year, Lake Oconee Academy’s Kallyn Black has continued to improve her golf game by participating in tournaments over the summer. In one of her most recent events, the Lady Titans’ state low-medalist qualified for the 74th U.S.

Eatonton native and Gatewood Schools alumnus Weston Wallace spent the last three years at the University of Georgia as a member of its back-to-back, defending national championship-winning football team.

University of Georgia demands AJC retract article about sexual assault within the program

The University of Georgia responded on Tuesday to an article written by Atlanta-Journal Constitution investigative journalist Alan Judd, whose report detailed how the Bulldogs’ football program allegedly handled sexual assault accusations against its student-athletes.

The Greene County 8U All-Star softball team won its Georgia Recreation and Parks Department state championship tournament on June 22 at Putnam County’s Poole Recreation Center.

LOA hosts padded football camp

The Lake Oconee Academy football team has been preparing for its third season by participating in summer workouts on-and-off the field. For the past month, the Titans have put most of their focus into strength conditioning in the weight room and agility skill training on the field.

Lady Dogs learn valuable lessons at Dawn Staley camp

Since hiring head coach Dawn Staley more than a decade ago, the South Carolina women’s basketball team has been among the best programs in the nation. Staley arrived in 2008, and since then, the Gamecocks won national championships in 2017 and 2022.

Tigers heating up on recruiting trail

Last season, a lot of Greene County football players helped the team make the state playoffs for the first time since 2018, and some of them are starting to get recognized by college coaches for their talents.
