ConGRADuation Day

Graduation Days are among those most memorable milestones and touchstones of life. They are often seen more as an end to one phase, while I have always chosen to view the ceremony as well as the Pomp & Circumstance noting entrance into life’s next phase.

Grandmother’s swing

In these turbulent times when everybody seems to be at somebody’s throat, when there are jobs to be had and people don’t want to work, when great riches are valued over a good name—I often take a break from my computer and repair to the swing that once held sway on my grandmother’s front porch.

In last week’s story headlined “Development authority gets school boards to talk – a little bit,” the website schooldigger.com was referenced in ranking LOA versus GCHS. That comparison is inaccurate because only limited data is available from 2021 test scores.

It’s the most common refrain I hear from voters...”I don’t like my choices.” Most typically these words are heard during Presidential election years, but increasingly, like these never-ending election seasons themselves, this message is becoming a near-constant.

National Nurses Week is in May

There are over 4.2 million licensed Registered Nurses (RNs), 950,000 practical Nurses (PN) and over 325,000 nurses practitoners (NPs) in the United States. Even though there are four times as many nurses in the United States as physicians, nurses are in critical supply.

Who needs to live forever to be immortal?

This is not a piece I was dying to write. It’s about death. The great equalizer The reason I bring up the subject today is that I read a piece recently that scientists are looking seriously at ways to keep us alive forever. No more wakes. No more inflated obituaries.
