Charles Jeffrey “Jeff” Cronan, 70, passed away unexpectedly while baling hay with his father on his farm in the Veazey community on Friday, July 31, 2026.
Born in Covington, Georgia, on Jan. 26, 1956, he was the son of Charles Talmadge Cronan and the late Patricia Annette Burford Cronan. Many knew him as “Jeppy” during his younger years.
After graduating from Newton County High School, Jeff eventually settled in the Veazey community of Greensboro, where he had lived for the past 43 years.
On June 24, 1995, he married Myra Creech in Mansfield, Georgia.
A man who embraced hard work, Jeff founded Cronan Construction, where he operated a bulldozer providing clearing and grading services. Although he retired in 2018, he remained active outdoors, enjoying drag racing, farming and hunting.
Jeff’s memory will be lovingly cherished by his wife, Myra Cronan of Greensboro; his daughters, Rachel Jane Cronan of Covington and Elizabeth “Liddy” Cronan Smith (Tanner) of Union Point; his father, Charles T. Cronan of Greensboro; and his brother, Joel S. “Joe” Cronan (Andrea) of Eatonton.
His beloved grandchildren also survive him, Rylan Jeffrey Sewell of Covington and Eliza Catherine Smith of Union Point, along with a large circle of close friends and extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Patricia Cronan, as well as his loyal squirrel-hunting companion, Buck, and Buck’s daughter, Jolene.
