John Francis Myers, 79, passed away peacefully at his White Plains, GA home on Sunday, August 9, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Born in the Bronx, New York, on July 17, 1947, he was the son of the late John Francis Myers, Sr. and Marie Delaney Myers.
John honorably served in the United States Air Force, serving during the Vietnam War and was stationed in Tripoli. He went on to earn a bachelor’s degree from Georgia College in Milledgeville, GA. On February 9, 1969, he wed Virginia Lynn Hodnett, and the couple made their home in White Plains throughout their marriage. Professionally, John worked as an accountant at Chipman Union in Union Point, GA for 18 years, an office manager for Wellington in Madison, GA, and later retired from Rayle EMC in Washington and Greensboro, GA.
He attended Centennial Christian Church. John is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Lynn Hodnett Myers of White Plains, GA; his sons, John Myers and wife Brandi, and William Myers and wife Stephanie; sister, Margaret Redmond of Highland Mills, New York; brothers, Peter Myers and wife Peggy of Randolph, New Jersey and Joseph Myers and wife Donna of Katonah, New York; and sisters-in-law, Sandy Myers of Red Bank, New Jersey and Judy Hodnett of White Plains, GA. He also leaves behind his grandchildren: Abby, Delaney, and Emmy Myers. Along with his parents, John was preceded in death by his brother, Jimmy Myers, and brother-in-law, Jimmy Redmond.
A graveside service celebrating John’s life took place at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at the Centennial Christian Church Cemetery, located at 4828 Centennial Road, White Plains, GA 30678, with Rev. Alec Ward officiating. The family greeted friends at the church prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
