Douglas Dean Rigdon, 76, of Greensboro, GA, passed away at his home on Tuesday, June 16, 2026. Born in Springfield, IL, on August 28, 1949, he was the son of the late Loren Dean Rigdon and Mary Ann Pree Rigdon.
Douglas was a graduate of Western Illinois University, where he was active in the Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity.
On August 21, 1971, he married Deborah Dawson in Springfield, IL.
A prominent figure in the insurance industry, Douglas served as the Chairman and CEO of Rigdon & Gioia Ltd until his retirement in 2009. He and his wife moved from Naperville, IL, to Greensboro thirteen years ago, where he became an active member of the Greensboro First Methodist Church and the local Elks Club.
Among his greatest joys was spending time with those he loved, especially his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of nearly fifty-five years, Deborah Dawson Rigdon; his children, Lindsay McLeroy (Corey) of Bishop, GA, and Christopher Rigdon (Colleen) of Naperville, IL; and his sister, Diana Copper (Jim). He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren: Brody, Addison, and Christopher Rigdon of Naperville, as well as William, Logan, and Kyle McLeroy of Bishop, along with many other relatives and dear friends.
A Celebration of Life took place at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 19, 2026, at the First Methodist Church, 202 W Broad St, Greensboro, GA 30642.
The service was officiated by Rev. Dr. Hugh Hendrickson, with a visitation held prior from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Following the service, a reception was held at the Harbor Club Clubhouse, 1041 Harbor Hill Drive, Greensboro, GA 30642. Arrangements were handled by McCommons Funeral Home, located at 109 W.
