Mr. Cliff P. Holbert, age 87, of Durham, NC, passed away on Thursday, July 14, 2022, in a Rome, Georgia hospital.
Mr. Holbert was born in Rome, Georgia on September 25, 1934, son of the late Claude Holbert and the late Bessie Mae Johnson Holbert. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Katheryn Gaddy and Eloise Rawlings, and by two brothers, Everett Holbert and Wiley Holbert.
Mr. Holbert was a veteran of the U. S. Airforce and was of the Methodist faith. Prior to retirement, he was a self-employed home builder. Mr. Holbert lived in Greensboro, Georgia from 1994 until 2020. He had been a resident of Durham, North Carolina since 2020. Mr. Holbert was an avid fisherman and loved the Atlanta Braves and Georgia Tech, but his greatest love was his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Carol Penland Massee Holbert; two daughters, Tonya Johnson (T. J.), Rome, GA, and Krista Reed (Kevin), Huntsville, AL; a son, Randy Holbert (Karren), Centre, AL; two stepsons, Patrick Massee (Kelly), Bainbridge, OH, and Scott Massee (Michele), Dallas, GA; grandchildren, Ashley Cleary (Ryan), Brooke Laney (Kevin), Kendall Reed, Asa Holbert, Alexis Massee, Isaac Massee, and Cecelia Massee; great-grandchildren, Ayden Maddox and Ansley Laney; a brother, James Holbert, Bishop, GA; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, July 16, 2022, at 3 pm in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel. The American Legion Post #5 Honor Guard presented military honors.
The family will received friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Saturday from 2 pm until the service time. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contribution to your favorite charity.
