Edith Carol Berryman Ashley of Greensboro, GA, passed away Saturday, November 30, 2024, at The Glen At Lake Oconee in Greensboro.
She was 77.
Carol was born August 16, 1947, in Birmingham, AL, to the late James Black Berryman and Edith Alexander Berryman.
She attended Baker Elementary School, Fairfield Junior High, and graduated from Fairfield High School. In 2004, she married Wayne Ashley in Birmingham, AL. They had been married for 26 years at the time of his death. Throughout her career, she worked for Central Bank and Compass Bank and retired from BBVA Bank as a banking analyst in the proof department. They moved to Greensboro in 2009, where she attended First Methodist Church of Greensboro and Lake Oconee.
Survivors include a brother, Jim Berryman, and his wife, Patsy, of Athens, GA; a nephew, Jay Berryman (Kate); a niece, Jill Shearer; great-great nephews, Bo, Banks, Grey Berryman, and James Shearer; and other relatives and friends. In addition to her husband, Wayne Ashley, and her parents, James and Edith Berryman, she was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Lacy Barber.
Graveside Services were held Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at Valhalla Cemetery, 5317 Bessemer Super Highway, Midfield, AL. 35228. McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W. Broad St., Greensboro, GA, (706) 453-2626, was responsible for arrangements.
