The 3rd annual Morgan County Special Olympics track-and-field event was held recently at Morgan County High School’s Bill Corry Stadium, where 73 Special Olympians from Greene and Morgan counties participated.
Eighty-five volunteers from Morgan County High School, representing HOSA FHP (Health Occupations Students of America, Future Health Professionals), FCCLA (Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America), and Morgan County High School ambassadors kept the event going smoothly.
Participating kids competed in the 50-yard dash, 100-yard dash, softball throw, and tennis ball throw.
For the third straight year, the Chase Stephens State Farm team in Madison provided lunch to all the teachers, paraprofessionals, volunteers, and Special Olympians.
Morgan County Special Olympics also thanked its sponsors: Bo’s Wrecker, Tree House Therapy, Lowry’s Feed and Seed, Just Breathe Day Spa, Madison Fitness, Lucan Dukes from Fairway Mortgage, Steven Bullard with Morris Realty. and Covenant Park Church.
“We would like to thank the community for their ongoing support for this program,” event organizer and Morgan County Special Ed teacher and Special Olympics coordinator Noelle Brownlee said.“We have grown so much over the last three years, and I can’t wait to see what’s in store for next year.
