Virgil Kerry Lundy of Union Point, GA, passed away Sunday, August 6, 2023, at Piedmont Athens Regional. He was 77. A resident of Greene County he was born in Union Point on March 14, 1946, to the late Virgil Davis Lundy and Bertha Mae Wood Lundy.
He grew up in Union Point and graduated from Union Point High School and received further education while in the military.
Kerry proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for twenty-one years as a mechanic. During this time he served in Germany, Thailand, California, Florida, and a number of other places in the United States along with three tours of duty in Vietnam. On October 2, 1974, he married Wilaiwan Paewampan in Thailand to whom he had been married for forty-eight years at the time of his death.
After retirement from the Air Force, he continued to work driving a transfer truck. He was a member of the New Life Church in Washington, GA. His greatest enjoyment came from being with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Wilaiwan “Lek” Lundy of Union Point; daughter, Sirisa Lundy Worthen and husband Bob of Union Point; son, Bill Lundy and wife Andrea of Union Point; grandchildren, Morgande Harris and husband Glen, Justin Worthen and wife Sierra, William Lundy, Jr. and Catherine Lundy and wife Tyra; great-grandchildren, Hunter Harris, Thomas Harris, Holly Harris, Juliana Worthen, and AuBri Lundy; along with many nieces and nephews.
Kerry was preceded in death by his siblings, Jack Davis Lundy, Lula Catherine Lundy, Jeannie Faye Lundy, David Leon Lundy and Richard Lee Lundy.
Services were held, Sunday, August 13, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at Callaway Funeral Chapel, 208 N.
Rhodes Street, Union Point, GA 30669 with Rev. Arthur Key and Rev. Bruce Lovin officiating. Interment followed at Greenlawn Cemetery, Rhodes Street, Union Point, GA 30669.
Pallbearers were Bill Lundy, Bob Worthen, Glenn Harris, Justin Worthen, William Lundy, Jr., and Ray Worthen. The family received friends Saturday, August 12, 2023, at Callaway Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
