GREENSBORO POLICE DEPARTMENT

On Sunday, March 12, officers responded to the area of Rachel Street in reference to a citizen’s complaint. The complainant stated that another resident was asked to leave her apartment after trying to start an argument with another resident. The resident that was asked to leave was identified as Bria Shanee Curry, 26, of Greensboro. The complainant stated that she saw Curry attempt to flatten her tires and chased her away from the vehicle. Officers made contact with Curry at her residence and issued a criminal trespassing warning for 102 Rachel Street. There was no further incident.

On Monday, March 13, officers responded to the area of Eastview Circle in reference to a dog at large. The incident was turned over to animal control.

On Monday, March 13, while patrolling the area of East Broad Street, officers observed a vehicle in which the driver was not wearing a seatbelt. Officers initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle and later arrested Jytavious Jevon Brinkley, 20, of Greensboro on charges of no seatbelt and driving without a valid license.

On Tuesday, March 14, officers responded to the Dollar General located on Willow Run Road in reference to a shoplifting complaint. The complainant stated that an individual came into the store and asked for Drano. The individual then came back to the counter to talk to the manager. The manager observed several items in the individual’s purse and asked the individual to take the items out of the purse. The individual then walked out of the store and left the premises. The individual was identified as Antoinette Lashalle White, 43, of Greensboro. After viewing the surveillance video, a warrant for theft by shoplifting was issued for White.

On Tuesday, March 14, officers responded to the area of South West Street in reference to an alarm activation. All windows and doors were secured.

On Tuesday, March 14, officers responded to the Quality Inn in reference to a civil matter. Both parties were advised to handle the issue in Magistrate Court or amongst themselves. There was no further incident.

On Wednesday, March 14, while patrolling the area of North East Street, officers observed a vehicle fail to maintain a lane and a tag that was illegally covered. Officers initiated a traffic stop and issued citations to Alanya Marie Hollis, 41, of Maxeys for suspended registration, no insurance, and driving while her license was suspended.

On Thursday, March 16, officers met with a complainant in reference to a theft-by-taking incident. The complainant stated that a manager had taken eight deposits totaling $11,336. The incident was turned over to investigators.

On Thursday, March 16, officers responded to the area of North West Street in reference to a 911 hang-up call. The tenants stated that no one there called 911. There was no further incident.

On Thursday, March 16, officers responded to the area of MLK Jr. Drive in reference to a concerned citizen. The complainant stated that three children and the parents needed an intervention between the kids who wanted to fight each other. Officers spoke with the parents and children and they agreed to avoid each other or try to get along. There was no further incident.

On Friday, March 17, officers responded to the area of Pinecrest Street in reference to a theft by taking. The complainant stated that someone stole a Kawasaki dirt bike valued at $12,000 from her detached garage. The incident was turned over to investigators.

On Saturday, March 18, officers responded to the Dollar General on Thomas Drive in reference to a theft-by-taking complaint. The complainant stated that a group of males came into the store and left without paying for items valued at $23. The incident was turned over to investigators.

On Saturday, March 18, officers met with a complainant in reference to a theft by taking. The complainant stated that he had his car detailed with his firearm inside and when the car was returned, the firearm was missing. The firearm was described as a 9mm Taurus. The firearm’s serial number was entered into GCIC. The incident was turned over to investigators.

On Saturday, March 18, while patrolling the area of South Main Street, officers observed a vehicle speeding 75 mph in a 35-mph zone. Officers initiated a traffic stop and then arrested Josue David Curiales Arevalo, 23, of Greensboro on charges of speeding and driving while his license was suspended.

On Saturday, March 18, while patrolling the area of Bush Street, officers observed a female with an active warrant for arrest. Officers made contact with Niesha Latrice Fair, 21, of Greensboro, and confirmed the warrant through Greene County E911. After a small tussle, Fair was arrested and served her warrant. Fair was also charged with obstruction of law enforcement.

On Saturday, March 18, while patrolling the area of East Broad Street, Officers observed a vehicle in which the driver was not wearing a seatbelt. Officers initiated a traffic stop and issued citations to Ricky Devon Johnson, 27, of Greensboro for no seatbelt, no insurance, and no registration.

On Saturday, March 18, officers initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle with five occupants traveling in front of the patrol unit with a strong. The smell of marijuana came from the vehicle. While identifying the driver, Desmond Dunn, officers could see a Glock 9mm in plain sight near the cup holder. The driver was detained so that the gun could be confiscated for safety. None of the occupants claimed ownership of the firearm. The front passenger was identified as William Dexter Leslie, 31, of Greensboro Leslie was known to have a warrant out of Greene County for his arrest. A rear-seat passenger, who was identified as Jamarie Wright was also detained after reaching down into the floorboard of the vehicle. Another rear passenger, who was identified as Cordias Perkins was known to have an active warrant out of Athens-Clarke County and was also detained. Athens-Clarke County later called back and confirmed that they no longer wanted to place a hold on Perkins. Officers conducted a probable cause search and found several cigars, rolling papers, scales, and marijuana residue throughout the vehicle. After further investigation, Perkins, Wright, Dunn, and a female passenger were all released. Leslie was arrested and served his warrant out of Greene County.

For the week of March 12-18, the Greensboro Police Department responded to one accident, and 24 citations were issued.

MORGAN COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE

Jose Cortez-Sanchez, 26, of Union City was arrested on March 10 and charged with reckless driving, fleeing or attempting to elude law enforcement officers, failure to maintain lane and theft by receiving stolen property.

A Morgan County deputy conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle he had clocked doing 88 mph in a 70-mph zone on March 16 and subsequently arrested the driver, Kenneth Lamar Brantley, 53, of Sandersville on a warrant out of Baldwin County.

On Friday, March 17, a Morgan County deputy met with a local woman at the Relax Inn in reference to a child molestation complaint.

Basil Warren Weathers, 35, of Madison was arrested on March 15 and charged with trafficking in cocaine and possession and use of drug-related objects.

Hoyt Lee Watts, 36, of Madison was arrested on March 18 and charged with disorderly conduct.

Jose Lopez, 25, of Orangeburg, South Carolina, was arrested on March 19 and charged with driving without a valid license and failure to maintain a lane. Darien Demoore Lawshea, 44, of Evans was arrested on March 17 and charged with an open container, DUI, and failure to maintain lane.

Tavise Maurice Simmons, 31, of Madison was arrested on March 20 and charged with possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, a violation of the Georgia Controlled Substances Act and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

Markell Ross Ingram, 28, of Madison was arrested on March 20 and charged with possession of marijuana (less than 1 ounce), failure to obey a stop sign, and a window tint violation.

Egypt Elizabeth Lumpkin, 23, of Madison was arrested on March 19 and charged with obstruction.

MADISON POLICE DEPARTMENT

Trevor Bryan Klement, 19, of Madison was arrested on March 15 and charged with criminal trespass.

A Madison police officer was dispatched to the Wash Rock on Atlanta Highway on March 14 in reference to a property damage complaint. The complainant said the parking lot had been damaged by a lowboy trailer.

A Madison police officer was dispatched to the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office on March 13 in reference to an assault report. The victim said a man she had been staying with at the Quality Inn had assaulted her and taken her car to a location in Greshamville. The victim said she wanted a report but had not decided if she wanted to press charges.

A Madison police officer was dispatched to the T/A Truck Stop on March 11 in reference to a physical dispute. The complainant said his girlfriend attached him and his friend as he was trying to gather his belongings to leave her apartment in Orchard Grove. A primary aggressor could not be determined so a pre-warrant hearing was suggested.

A Madison police officer met with a local man concerning check fraud. The complainant said someone took and then cashed one of his business checks in the Atlanta area for $3,848.16. Randell Everette Hamilton, 49, of Madison, was arrested on March 15 and charged with possession of drug-related objects, possession of methamphetamine, and driving an unregistered vehicle with no proof of insurance.

GREENE COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE

On March 16, deputies arrested Oral Chadwick Armistead, 1100 Frazier Copelan Road, Madison on two counts of possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug-related objects, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

On March 18, deputies arrested John Slade Edwards, 529 Bampfield Drive, Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, for failure to maintain Lane, open container, DUI, and two counts of endangering a child under 14 years of age while DUI.

On March 15, deputies arrested Ivan Avila Galan, 1495 Hwy 29 North, Lot M7, Athens, for no license.

On March 13, deputies arrested Quinton Bernard Jones, 308 Church Street, Union Point, for the battery.

On March 14, deputies arrested Chad Jordan, 2060 Siloam Veazey Road, Greensboro, for simple battery and two counts of terroristic threats and acts.

On March 17, deputies arrested Saleem Kerr, 6400 Castel Court Way, Lithonia, for probation violation.

On March 13, deputies arrested Jorge Armando Ortega, 1131 Meadowcrest Road, Greensboro, for a window tint Violation, no license and no insurance. On March 17, deputies arrested James Branyan Peugh, 1031 Jernigan Lane, Greensboro, on two counts of criminal trespass and simple battery.

On March 14, deputies arrested Maurice Antoine Saunders, 907 Carlton Ave., Union Point, for failure to stop for stop/yield signs and battery.

On March 13, deputies arrested Patrick Thomas Stone, 100 Bunnyhuff Road, Roxboro, North Carolina, for failure to meet license plate requirements, driving while license suspended, no Insurance, and no seatbelt.

On March 13, deputies arrested Aneiyiah Kechail Thornton, 701 South Main Street, Greensboro, for speeding and driving while their license was suspended.
