MORGAN COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE
A Morgan County deputy was dispatched to a Lake Rutledge Road address on March 1 in reference to fraudulent checks. The complainant said he had listed a boat for sale on boat trader. com for $19,500 and was contacted by a man who said he was interested in purchasing the boat. The complainant later received two separate checks from different banks for $26,499 which both turned out to be fraudulent.
Donald Eugene Howard, 20, was arrested on March 2 and charged with DUI, expired license plate decal, and failure to have a license on person.
A Morgan County deputy was dispatched to a Knights Cove address on March 3 in reference to a property damage complaint.
A Morgan County deputy was dispatched to a Davis Academy Road address on March 3 in reference to suspicious persons. Trail cameras photographed several people who may have committed theft in the area.
Ronald B. Ginn, 32, was arrested on March 4 and charged with reckless driving, failure to obey a stop sign, and driving too fast for conditions.
A Morgan County deputy was dispatched to the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office on March 5 and met with a man about a vehicle accident complaint. The complainant said a white SUV struck his vehicle, but although the complainant said he gave the SUV’s driver his name and insurance information, he did not get any information in return.
A Morgan County deputy was made aware on March 6 that a registered sex offender Matovious R. Jinks, 38, had failed to properly register as a sex offender within 72 hours of a change of address.
Morgan County deputies conducted a safety checkpoint at Broughton Road and Dykes Road on March 3. Seven vehicles were checked with no activity.
MADISON POLICE DEPARTMENT
Lenox Brinkley Jr., 37, address redacted by MPD, was arrested on Feb. 27 and charged with theft by shoplifting. According to police reports, Brinkley stole several vape pens from the EZ Bottle Shop on W. Washington Street. The owners agreed not to press charges if the items were paid for by the next day, but the money was not paid, and Brinkley was arrested.
A Madison police officer was dispatched to a Markham’s Drive address on Feb. 28 in reference to a property damage report. The complainant said her son’s basketball goal had been shattered.
Geneva Combs, 20, address redacted by MPD, was cited on Feb. 27 for possession of marijuana (less than 1 ounce) and failure to obey a traffic control device. A Madison police officer was dispatched to a Highland Avenue address on March 5 regarding a threat complaint. No charges were filed but a pre-warrant hearing is being sought to sort out the complaints.
A Madison police officer was dispatched to Love’s Truck Stop on March 3 in reference to a child custody issue.
A Madison police officer met with a local woman at the MCSO on March 1 regarding harassment complaints. The complainant said she had received harassing text messages.
A Madison police officer was dispatched to the Orchard Grove Apartments on Micha Way on Feb. 23 regarding damage to property complaint. The complainant said a woman had threatened to slash her tires and carried out the threat. There was no video or photographic evidence.
GREENE COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE
On March 3, deputies arrested Todd Anthony, 1110 Grey Horse Road, Greensboro, for arson in the first degree and insurance fraud.
On March 1, deputies arrested Jamie Vanlier Brightwell, 225 Elliot Circle, Union Point, for failure to meet child support obligations and criminal trespass.
On March 4, deputies arrested William Leslie Goss, 1910 Wrayswood Road, Watkinsville, for disorderly conduct.
On March 4, deputies arrested Jamey Lee Griffin, 1580 Indian Woods, Greensboro, on four counts of obstruction of a law enforcement officer and a parole violation.
On March 1, deputies arrested Aaron John Pineo, 701 Carlton Ave., Union Point, for defective equipment and possession of a controlled substance.
