MORGAN COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE

A Morgan County deputy met with a local man on Feb. 22 regarding a scam. The complainant said he received a call from someone claiming to be an Amazon customer service representative. The complainant said he surrendered personal information and nearly $1,000 was taken from him via CashApp.

Justin Roy Phillips, 21, of Monticello was arrested on Feb. 22 and charged with speeding (88 mph in a 70-mph zone), driving while unlicensed, suspended registration and no insurance.

R.L. Hunt, 31, of Sparta was arrested on Feb. 22 and charged with driving while license suspended and speeding (95 mph in a 70-mph zone).

Jeremy Daniel Craver, 38, of Dallas, Texas, was arrested on Feb. 22 on a warrant out of the state of Texas.

A Morgan County deputy was dispatched to a Mallory Road address on Feb. 25 in reference to a damaged vehicle call. The case was turned over to investigations.

A Morgan County deputy was dispatched to a West Dixie Highway address on Feb. 24 to meet with a complainant who said he had received a threatening text message.

A Morgan County deputy was dispatched to VFW Post No. 2557 in Rutledge regarding damage to property complaint. The complainant said a statue of an American soldier had been damaged. Surveillance footage is being reviewed.

Starr Colleen Dixon, 35, of Statesboro was arrested on Feb. 25 and charged with speeding (70 mph in a 55-mph zone), driving while license suspended, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of MDMA with intent to distribute and possession of drug-related objects.

Sheryl E. Lundgren, 68, of Madison was arrested on Feb. 26 and charged with obstruction. During the same traffic stop, Angela Florence, 57, of Madison was arrested by the Georgia State Patrol and charged with DUI.

A Morgan county deputy responded to an Atlanta Highway address regarding damage to property complaint. According to the report, it appeared someone had driven through the grass and sharply accelerated, causing the rear tires to spin.

The vehicle then spun around in the grass before pulling out onto Atlanta Highway.

A Morgan County deputy was dispatched to a Pinetree Circle address on Feb. 27 regarding a report of threatening text messages. The complainant said she had received threatening texts from someone she was involved in a business deal with.

MADISON POLICE DEPARTMENT

A Madison police officer was contacted on Feb. 15 by a local woman who said someone had used her daughter’s social security number to open an account in Texas. The daughter contacted the SSA about getting a new number.

A Madison police officer was dispatched to the MCSO on Feb. 22 in reference to two guns stolen from a repossessed car.

A Madison police officer met with a woman at the police department on Feb. 22 regarding check fraud. The complainant said a company had been electronically withdrawing money from her bank account, a total of $571.80. The complainant said she had never contacted or set up an account with the company.

A Madison police officer was dispatched to a Markham’s Drive address on Feb. 21 in reference to a fraud complaint. The complainant said she and her husband were trying to purchase items on the Amazon website with gift cards, but the site would not accept the cards as a form of payment. They Googled Amazon customer service and made contact with a man who said he was a customer service representative. She was instructed to buy a $100 Amazon gift card, but immediately noticed a charge of $103 to her credit card account that was unauthorized. The complainant said she and her husband have been defrauded out of $225. The credit card account was closed.

A Madison police officer was dispatched to a March Street address on Feb. 7 in reference to damage to property complaint. The complainant said her vehicle was damaged by an acquaintance. The incident was settled with mediation and financial compensation on Feb. 10. Both parties were satisfied with the outcome, according to the report.

A Madison police officer met with a woman on Feb. 15 at the police department lobby regarding a stolen wallet. The complainant said her mother’s wallet was taken from her purse while shopping at Ingles.

A Madison police officer was dispatched to a Meadow Ridge Drive address on Feb. 28 in reference to a domestic disturbance between two brothers. Officers subsequently arrested Barry Boswell, 37, on charges of simple battery.

A Madison police officer was dispatched to a Commerce Street address on Feb. 27 in reference to a property damage report. The complainant said the power meter and mast were pulled from his rental home by a cable that a truck had pulled taut nearby.

A Madison police officer was dispatched to the McDonalds on Eatonton Road regarding a stolen laptop. The complainant said the laptop was stolen on Feb. 27.

A Madison police officer was dispatched to a Fifth Street address on Feb. 26 regarding a damaged vehicle. The complainant pointed out scratches on the hood and windshield.

A Madison police officer was dispatched to Walmart on Feb. 21 regarding a shoplifting report. Two juveniles were observed on security footage taking a buggy full of drinks. The store asked that the juveniles be trespassed and banned from the store.

GREENE COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE

On Feb. 23, deputies arrested Rodney Delain Beasley, 1091 Duvall Circle, Madison, for failure to appear.

On Feb. 22, deputies arrested Amanuel Beyene, 7480 Union Grove, Lithonia, for possession of a controlled substance, trafficking cocaine, and trafficking MDMA. On Feb. 21, deputies arrested Stacey Jack Bradley, 2651 Syrup Mill Crossing, Greensboro, for reckless conduct.

On Feb. 22, deputies arrested Helena Marie Carvalho, 1305 Capstone Way, Commerce, for speeding and no insurance.

On Feb. 22, deputies arrested Noah Worku Ferede, 4480 Union Grove Road, Lithonia, for possession of a controlled substance, trafficking cocaine and trafficking MDMA.

On Feb. 24, deputies arrested Nancy Gardner, 800 Crawfordville Road, Apt 108, Union Point, for disorderly conduct.

On Feb. 22, deputies arrested Lakeitha Glover, 111 Martin Luther King Drive, Eatonton, for speeding and DUI.

On Feb. 23, deputies arrested Daniel Lee Jacobs, 500 Crawfordville Road, Union Point, for criminal trespass.

On Feb. 21, deputies arrested Jermontay Devon Kendrick, 1050 Parham Drive, Union Point, for child molestation, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, enticing a child for indecent purposes, and obstruction or hindering law enforcement officers.

On Febr. 26, deputies arrested Michael Ray Little, 101 Linchburg Road, Eatonton, for driving while their license suspended and speeding.

On Feb. 25, deputies arrested Demarcus Lantrell Peek, 110 Pinecrest Drive, Union Point, for suspended registration, failure to stop for a stop sign, and driving while his license suspended.

On Feb. 22, Deputies arrested Pedro Demetri Reid, no current address, for forgery in the 4th degree.

On Feb. 26, deputies arrested Damion Cordele Thornton, 170 Fawn Lane, Athens, for false imprisonment.

GREENSBORO POLICE DEPARTMENT

On Sunday, Feb. 19, officers responded to the area of Apalachee Avenue in reference to an aggravated assault complaint. The complainant stated that he was shot with a pellet gun as he was walking home. The incident was turned over to investigators.

Richard Lamar Moody, 64, of Greensboro was arrested Feb. 19 on a warrant.

On Sunday, Feb. 19, officers responded to the area of East Broad Street in reference to a citizen’s complaint. The complainant stated that someone had been knocking on his door all night. The complainant believed it to be the neighbors across the street. Officers were unable to make contact with the neighbors at the time of the report.

On Monday, Feb. 20, officers responded to the city park in reference to a male needing assistance. The incident was turned over to Greene County EMS and Greene County Christian Outreach.

On Tuesday, Feb. 21, officers responded to the GPD in reference to a stolen tag. The complainant stated that her tag was removed from her vehicle.

On Tuesday, Feb. 21, officers responded to the area of Fox Chase Circle in reference to a welfare check. The incident was turned over to Greene County EMS.

On Tuesday, Feb. 21, officers met with an individual at GPD in reference to a stolen tag. The complainant stated that his tag had been either lost or stolen.

On Wednesday, Feb. 22, while patrolling the area of West Broad Street, officers observed an individual with an active warrant for arrest.

Officers made contact with the individual who was identified as Kennardo Antwan Bailey, 47, of White Plains. Dispatch confirmed the warrant for probation violation. Bailey was arrested and served his warrant. After processing, officers received a call from Greene County LEC stating that during the strip search of Bailey, he was found to be in possession of methamphetamine. Warrants for possession of a controlled substance and crossing the guard line with drugs were issued and served to Bailey.

On Wednesday, Feb. 22, officers responded to BankSouth located on North East Street in reference to a forgery complaint. The complainant stated that an individual was in the bank attempting to cash a forged check in the amount of $930. Officers made contact with the individual who was identified as Eddie Deen Dixon, 43 of Fruitland Park, Florida. After further investigation, Dixon was arrested on the charge of deposit account fraud.

On Wednesday, Feb. 22, officers responded to the area of North West Street in reference to a verbal dispute. Both parties agreed to separate for the rest of the day. The complainant was advised of the eviction process.

On Wednesday, Feb. 22, officers met with a complainant at GPD in reference to a TPO and child abuse complaint. The incident was turned over to investigators.

On Thursday, Feb. 23, officers met with a complainant at GPD in reference to a lost/stolen tag. The complainant stated that he had not received his tag. Officers informed him that the address on the paperwork for the vehicle is different from his license and it may have gone to the other address. The complainant stated that he will check at the other address.

On Thursday, Feb.23, while patrolling the area of South Main Street, Officers observed a vehicle in violation of a tag light requirement. Officers initiated a traffic stop and later arrested Darinal Paiz Lopez, 22, of Greensboro on charges of a tag light violation, driving while unlicensed and no insurance.

On Friday, Feb. 24, while patrolling the area of West South Street, officers observed a vehicle fail to maintain lane. Officers initiated a traffic stop and later arrested Curtis Porter Jr., 60, of Greensboro on charges of failure to maintain lane, expired tag, driving while license suspended and DUI (alcohol).

On Friday, Feb. 24, while patrolling the area of Siloam Road, officers observed a vehicle in a ditch with no driver around. Officers confirmed ownership of the vehicle and made contact with the owner who stated that the accident jut happened and he walked home to call a wrecker service. After further investigation, Jackson was arrested on charges of DUI, leaving the scene of an accident, tire requirement and windshield requirement.

For the week of February 19-25, the Greensboro Police Department responded to one accident, and 81 citations were issued.
