MORGAN COUNTY
The Madison Artists Guild and MAGallery are proud to host abstract artist Bev Jones for her upcoming one-woman exhibition titled A Pastel Palette.
Jones is a self-taught artist whose work has evolved from hand-painted greeting cards to large-scale abstract paintings, which she is best known for today. She grew up in Franklin, Tenn., but began her painting career in Banner Elk, N.C., where she lived for 15 years after moving.
However, her move to Madison in 2002 is what put a timestamp on her love for painting. Her dramatic turn from small-to-large-scale work took place in 2015 when she began painting on large canvases.
Since then, her work has been widely shown, including at OCAF, Madison-Morgan Cultural Center, The Steffen Thomas Museum of Art, and Madison Artists Guild Gallery. Jones paints with ink, watercolor, acrylic and mixed media.
“My inspiration stems from experiences in my life as well as the stillness of life,” said Jones.
A Pastel Palette is one of MAGallery’s 10 special exhibitions for 2023, showcasing original artwork of emerging and established artists from within and outside the local community.
The public is invited to an opening reception and meet-and-greet in honor of Jones on Friday, Feb. 24 from 6-8 p.m. This special evening includes wine and hors d’oeuvres, live music, and conversation. A Pastel Palette will remain at the gallery through March 25, and all works are for sale.
