Jeff Cronan

Charles Jeffrey “Jeff” Cronan, aged 70, passed away unexpectedly while baling hay with his father on his farm in the Veazey Community on Friday, July 31, 2026.

Born in Covington, GA, on January 26, 1956, he was the son of Charles Talmadge Cronan and the late Patricia Annette Burford Cronan. Many knew him as “Jeppy” in his younger years. After graduating from Newton County High School, Jeff eventually settled in the Veazey community of Greensboro, where he has resided for the last forty-three years.

On June 24, 1995, he wed Myra Creech in Mansfield, GA. A man who embraced hard work, Jeff founded Cronan Construction, operating a bulldozer for clearing and grading services. Though he retired in 2018, he remained active outdoors doing what he loved, including drag racing, farming, and hunting.

Jeff’s memory will be lovingly cherished by his wife, Myra Cronan of Greensboro, GA; his daughters, Rachel Jane Cronan of Covington, GA, and Elizabeth “Liddy” Cronan Smith (Tanner) of Union Point, GA; his father, Charles T. Cronan of Greensboro, GA; and his brother, Joel S.

“Joe” Cronan (Andrea) of Eatonton, GA. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren, Rylan Jeffrey Sewell of Covington, GA, and Eliza Catherine Smith of Union Point, GA, along with a large circle of close friends and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his mother, Patricia Cronan, as well as his loyal squirrel hunting buddy, Buck, and Buck’s daughter, Jolene.

A funeral service was held on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Siloam Baptist Church, located at 1041 Church Street, Siloam, GA 30665, with Rev. Bruce Lovin officiating. Visitation took place at the church prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

Following the service, interment was at Siloam Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are J. D. Higdon, Keith “Kebo” Moody, Matt Creech, Will Creech, Dick Settles, and Jason Cronan. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Bethesda Baptist Church, 1560 Bethesda Church Road, P. O. Box 302, Union Point, GA 30669. Funeral arrangements were under the care of McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
