MORGAN COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE

A Morgan County deputy was dispatched to Tractor Supply on Eatonton Road in reference to a theft.

A Morgan County Deputy met with a local woman who said her son is being harassed. The complainant was advised how to obtain a Temporary Protective Order from the Morgan County Superior Court.

Morgan County law enforcement and agents of the United State Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) executed a search warrant 1200 Cochran Road July 25 which led to the arrest of Kassi D. Williams, 28. Williams is being charged with trafficking in cocaine, possession of drug related items, theft by receiving stolen property and possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance.

Agustin L. Garcia, 55, of Houston was arrested July 26 and charged with DUI (alcohol), hit and run, driving too fast for conditions and following too closely.

A Morgan County deputy was dispatched to an Athens Highway address in reference to a property line dispute. The complainant said that a survey revealed that an adjacent residence was almost halfway on their property. The stakes left by the surveyor were removed by the neighbor, according to the report. The complainant also said someone related to the owner of the house said the people living in the home would move out in a week and demolish the house and later said they weren’t going anywhere. A Morgan County deputy was dispatched to Riverwalk Road address in Bishop July 27 in reference to a fraud complaint. The complainant said she sent $1,628 to an Allen Millican to rent an apartment in Lawrenceville only to learn that the apartment listing was a fraud. Millican’s phone number was then disconnected.

William C. Andrews, 17, of Buckhead was arrested July 27 and charged with DUI.

Lorenzo C. Garcia, 48, of Madison was arrested July 28 and charged with driving while license suspended and failure to maintain lane.

On Friday, July 29, a package was reported stolen from a Walker Road address in Madison.

A Morgan County deputy was dispatched to a Pine Tree Circle address July 29 in reference to vehicle damage. The complainant said a large oak tree fell on his Ford F-150 while he was in bed asleep. The tree shattered the passenger side window. No one was injured.

A Morgan County deputy was dispatched to a Pinetree Circle address July 30 in reference to a burglary complaint. After processing the scene Sergeant Ellen Welch was able to determine that a child had broken the window out of the back door with a rock and committed the burglary.

A Morgan County deputy was dispatched to a Knox Chapel Road address July 31 in reference to a stolen vehicle. The complainant said a pearl white 2015 Toyota Highlander was stolen from where it was parked in front or her cabin. Turns out the vehicle belonged to the complainant’s mother who had sent someone to retrieve it when the daughter would not return it to Mobile, Alabama.

A Morgan Count deputy was flagged down at the entrance to the Morgan County jail by a woman who said someone shot a bullet into the hood of her car during a party the night before. The bullet appeared to have gone through the hood into the engine compartment. No projectile was found.

A Morgan County deputy was dispatched to an Old Mill Road address Aug. 1 in reference to the theft or possible escape of two miniature horses. The complainant said the mare is a white and black pinto and the stallion is black. Both are approximately 31 inches tall. The deputy patrolled the area but could not locate the horses. No reports of stray horses in the area were recorded.

Steven A. McCarty, 45, of Rutledge was arrested Aug. 1 and charged with terroristic threats and acts.

MADISON POLICE DEPARTMENT

Jerome Martez Rumph, 40, of Madison was arrested July 27 and charged with simple assault. According to the report, Rumph punched a woman in the parking lot of the Budget Inn on Eatonton Road.

A Madison police officer was dispatched to a Maple Street address July 25 in reference to bricks being thrown through a window. The complainant said that two Black males threw pieces of cinder blocks through windows of his mother’s house.

A Madison police officer was dispatched to the Hampton Inn July 29 in reference to a child falling in the hotel vestibule. The complainant said no “caution: wet floor” signs had been set up to point out the hazard. The complainant was advised that it was a civil matter.

A Madison police officer was dispatched to Walmart in reference to a shoplifting. Walmart’s asset protection manager said that Black male entered the store and shoplifted $487.86 worth of merchandise. The store was able to provide photos of the suspect taken by the security system.

GREENE COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE

On July 29, deputies arrested Robert Latroy Briscoe, 1030 Summer Circle, Union Point, for battery.

On July 31, deputies arrested Michael James Conway, 301 Greene Street, Greensboro, for speeding, failure to maintain Lane and DUI.

On July 28, deputies arrested Khiry Donnell Griffin, 1014 Caddenwoods Drive, Augusta, for possession of marijuana and parole violation. On July 28, Deputies arrested Varsheka

On July 28, Deputies arrested Varsheka Nicole Kendrick, 814 Park Ave, Union Point, for probation violation.

On July 27, deputies arrested Joseph K. Morris, 1702 Volgg, Corpus Christi, Texas, for giving a false name to a law enforcement officer.

On July 31, Deputies arrested Pete O’Neal Peugh, 1031 Jernigan Lane, Greensboro, for DUI.

On July 31, deputies arrested Kevin Orlando Rowland, 1011 Thompson Town Road, Greensboro, for driving too fast for conditions and hit and run.

On July 28, deputies arrested Thelma Tameka Simmons, 220 Springtree Drive, Apt 101, Columbia, South Carolina, for possession of marijuana.

On July 29, deputies arrested Alaejah Iman Worrell, 316 N. West Street, Unit 113, Greensboro, for battery and criminal trespass.

GREENSBORO POLICE DEPARTMENT

On Sunday July 24, while patrolling the area of North East Street, officers observed a vehicle come to a complete stop in the middle of the roadway and fail to maintain lane. Officers initiated a traffic stop in the area of Pool Road. The driver was identified as Douglas Ameche Jackson, 55, of Greensboro. After further investigation, Jackson was arrested on charges of failing to maintain lane, DUI and open container.

On Sunday, July 24, officers responded to the area of Cherry Street in reference to a verbal dispute. The complainant stated that her late father’s girlfriend came to the residence to retrieve her personal belongings. An argument ensued, and the girlfriend was advised to get her belongings and leave the property. She was also advised that she would need to handle any other matters of property in Magistrate Court. There was no further incident.

On Sunday, July 24, officers responded to the area of Siloam Road, in reference to a disorderly person. The complainant stated that an individual became upset and began punching walls. The individual stated that he was upset because his ex was keeping his child from seeing him and that he thought he needed help. The incident was then turned over to Greene County EMS.

On Monday, July 25, officers responded to the area of North West Street in reference to a runaway juvenile. The mother stated that her daughter became upset after she took her cell phone and began walking. She had not returned home and was unable to be located. After further investigation, the daughter returned home and apologized to her mother. There was no further incident.

On Monday, July 25, officers responded to the area of Fox Chase Circle in reference to a verbal dispute. The complainant stated that his neighbor was standing by his truck and started threatening him. The complainant stated that he had to call 911 on the previous night because the neighbor was causing commotion on the front porch. Officers spoke with the neighbor who stated that he did not know why the complainant has complaints. The neighbor stated that the complainant got his girlfriend evicted from his residence, and he is always being harassed by the complainant. Both parties were advised to stay away from each other.

On Tuesday, July 26, officers responded to the area of Mill Street in reference to a theft complaint. The complainant stated that someone stole a weed eater off of her front porch. The incident was turned over to investigators.

On Tuesday, July 26, officers responded to the area of Mill Street, in reference to a theft complaint. The complainant stated that while she was incarcerated, someone entered her residence and stole a necklace, bracelet and charm bracelet -all valued at $400. The incident was turned over to investigators.

On Tuesday, July 26, officers responded to Ingles on East Broad Street in reference to a concerned citizen’s complaint of an animal left in the car. The incident was turned over to Animal Control.

On Wednesday, July 27, officers responded to the area of North West Street in reference to a verbal dispute. The complainant stated that he and his wife were arguing because he alleged that she was cheating on him. Both parties were advised to either separate or calm down for the rest of the night. There was no further incident.

On Thursday, July 28, officers responded to the area of North West Street in reference to a domestic dispute. The complainant stated that she was physically assaulted by her husband on the previous night. The complainant stated that she was bitten, choked and pushed into a stove. Her cell phone and keys were taken by her husband because he alleged that she was cheating on him. The complainant stated that she was too upset to call 911 on the previous night. She also advised that she would be going to seek treatment at the ER. The complainant was advised to provide copies of the ER report to investigators. Later, the complainant called and spoke with a detective and advised that she did not want to pursue charges against her husband. The incident was closed per the complainant’s request.

On Thursday, July 28, officers responded to the area of Tiger Drive in reference to a person choking. Officers arrived and discovered a female on the ground who was not breathing. Officers immediately began performing Heimlich maneuver. Several attempts of the Heimlich were unsuccessful. Officers then began CPR compressions until EMS arrived. The incident was then turned over to Greene County EMS.

On Thursday, July 28, officers responded to the area of East Broad Street in reference to a terroristic threat via text message complaint. The complainant stated that his cousin, who is dating his exgirlfriend, sent him a threat via text message. The complainant was advised of the TPO process.

On Thursday July 28, officers responded to the area of Apalachee Avenue in reference to a harassment complaint. The complainant stated that she was being harassed by an individual via Facebook. The complainant was advised to block the individual and whoever is sending screenshots.

On Friday, July 29, officers responded to the area of East Broad Street in reference to an attempted robbery by intimidation. The complainant stated that someone tried to snatch his bag while he was walking down the street. The complainant was unable to see who the individual was. Attempts to locate the individual were unsuccessful.

On Friday, July 29, officers responded to the area of West Broad Street in reference to a hit and run. The complainant stated that she was rear ended, but the other vehicle fled the scene. The complainant stated that she was unable to get the license plate number.

On Friday, July 29, officers responded to the area of MLK Jr. Drive, in reference to a driver who stated that he hydroplaned. It was later discovered that the driver lost control of the vehicle while laying drags, hitting a tree, street sign and power pole. The incident was turned over to GSP.

On Saturday, July 30, officers responded to the area of West 4th Street in reference to a verbal dispute. The complainant stated that her child’s father slapped their daughter in the face. The complainant stated that her child’s father began to physically assault her by pulling her hair. The father of the child stated that nothing got physical between him and his daughter or her mother. Due to conflicting stories, no arrests were made at the time of the report. Both parties were advised to stay away from each other to avoid any further conflict.

On Saturday, July 30, while patrolling the area of East Broad Street, officers observed a vehicle fail to maintain lane. Officers initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle, and the driver was identified as Josmar Rodriguez Ramos, 39, of Union Point. After further investigation, Ramos was arrested on charges of failing to maintain lane, no seatbelt, no insurance, no registration and DUI.

For the week of July 24-30, the Greensboro Police Department responded to zero accidents, and 25 citations were issued.
