With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Dorothy “Dianne” McCommons Boswell, who peacefully entered eternal rest at her home surrounded by family on June 28, 2026. Dianne was born on April 24, 1943 in Atlanta to the late James Owen and Dorothy Reynolds McCommons of Greensboro. Dianne cherished being a wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to so many.
With grace and humility, Dianne brought warmth and steadiness to all those around her. She found meaning in lending a hand, celebrating others’ achievements, and keeping meaningful traditions alive. Dianne found beauty in life’s simple pleasures. She loved tending to her yard where she nurtured roses, azaleas, and countless other plants with the same care and patience she gave to the people in her life. She also enjoyed many happy hours around the bridge table with dear friends, creating lifelong friendships and unforgettable memories.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 57 years, Phil Boswell; her daughters, Jan Boswell Jones (Burt) and Jennifer Owen; her cherished grandchildren, Stella and Banks; as well as her darling dogs. She also is survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever treasure her memory. Along with her parents, Dianne was preceded in death by her younger sister, Janice McCommons.
Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort knowing that Dianne’s love lives on in the many lives she touched. She leaves behind a family strengthened by her example, a community blessed by her kindness, and memories that will be cherished for generations. She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
A celebration of Dianne’s life was held on Thursday, July 2nd at 11:00am at the Siloam Cemetery, located on Church Street in Siloam, Georgia. The family was visited with friends and family at Dianne and Phil’s home proceeding the graveside service.
