James “Jim” C. Strother Jr.

James “Jim” C. Strother Jr., of White Plains, Georgia, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, June 7, 2026, at the age of 90.

Born on October 25, 1935, in Atlanta, Georgia, he was the son of the late James C. Strother Sr. and Alice Frances Waggoner Strother. Jim graduated from Southwest DeKalb High School and proudly served his country for four years in the United States Marine Corps.

On September 8, 1978, he married the former Cynthia Fetner, and together they shared nearly 48 years of devoted marriage. Jim was a successful entrepreneur and general contractor who owned and operated Jim Strother, Inc., a commercial construction company, until his retirement in 2008. He and Cynthia relocated from Decatur to White Plains in 1982.

A man of steadfast faith, Jim was a dedicated member of Liberty United Methodist Church for as long as his health allowed. He found great joy in the outdoors, particularly through fishing and hunting, and always looked forward to trips with family and friends to Biloxi, Mississippi, and Las Vegas, Nevada.

Jim is survived by his beloved wife, Cynthia Strother of White Plains; his children, Victor Strother and wife Cheryl of Covington, Georgia, Joel Fuller and wife Cindy of Covington, Georgia, Michael Strother of Mexico Beach, Florida, Jason Strother and wife Laura of Utah, and Marty Fuller and wife Mary Lou of Murfreesboro, Tennessee. He was the proud grandfather of Nicholas Strother (Nicole), Megan Henley (Matt), Jeremy Fuller (Darby), Alora Paulos (Nic), and Wilson Fuller, and the great-grandfather of five.

He is also survived by his sister, Bonnie Colagrossi, and husband Jim of Tampa, Florida, along with many other relatives and dear friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Bob Strother.

A Celebration of Jim’s Life was held at Liberty United Methodist Church, 3091 Liberty Church Road, White Plains, Georgia, on Saturday, June 20, 2026, with Pastor Chris Huskins officiating.
