Morgan County Charter Schools recently announced new leadership hires set to begin at the elementary, middle, and high school levels for the 2026-27 school year.
The BOE officially approved the hires on May 11 after exiting an executive session at its monthly board meeting.
MCCS shared the details on the new hires shortly after the meeting concluded.
The board approved the appointment of current MCHS Assistant Principal Noah Harrell as the new Principal of the school, following Dr. Melanie Sigler’s retirement. Before his role in Morgan County, Harrell served as assistant Principal of Locust Grove High School, gaining experience with “overseeing academics, discipline, safety, MTSS, athletics, and student services.
MCCS Superintendent Dr. Susan Stancil shared statements about each hire and explained why she sees them as good additions to the school’s leadership teams.
“Noah Harrell is a leader who believes in students, values relationships, and leads with integrity,” Stancil said. “He understands the importance of school culture while maintaining high expectations, and we are excited about the future of Morgan County High School under his leadership.”
Harrell also released a statement on his upcoming tenure as Principal, noting that he is “grateful” for the community’s support.
“It is truly an honor to serve as principal of Morgan County High School,” Harrell said. “I am committed to creating a school environment where every student feels supported, challenged, and inspired. Together, we will continue building on MCHS’s strong tradition of excellence while preparing students for success in college, careers, and life.”
The Board of Education also appointed Marcus Wyatt, the current assistant principal at Morgan County Middle School, as the school’s next principal.
Before starting his current position in 2019, Wyatt held multiple roles, including special education administrator, gifted coordinator, safety coordinator, and district discipline coordinator. In previous positions, he was recognized as the East Central GLRS Special Education Teacher of the Year and the Putnam County Charter School System Teacher of the Year.
“Marcus Wyatt has already demonstrated the heart, vision, and leadership that define Morgan County Middle School,” Stancil said. “His experience within the building, his relationships with our students and staff, and his commitment to excellence make him the right choice to lead the school into its next chapter. We are confident that under his leadership, Morgan County Middle will continue to grow and thrive.
At the elementary school, Katie Seymour will begin her tenure as the next assistant principal of MCES. At the same time, Dr. Wesley Cooper, who is currently in the position, will serve as the school’s principal.
Seymour has more than 15 years of experience in education. Currently, he serves as the K-5 district instructional coordinator and MTSS specialist for the Putnam County Charter School System. Before her current position, she worked as a special education teacher, first-grade teacher, an Instructional Coach, and MTSS coordinator.
“We are excited to welcome Katie Seymour to Morgan County Charter Schools,” Stancil said. “Katie’s experience, leadership, and caring approach make her a wonderful fit for Morgan County Elementary School. She has a true passion for supporting students and teachers, and we are confident she will be a valued part of Morgan County Charter Schools.”
