Paws for Pistons: Humane society hosts annual car show

The Humane Society of Morgan County hosted its “Paws for Pistons” charity car show in downtown Madison on Sept. 21. The annual event, free to the public, took place from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Putnam BOC approves another new cell tower

The Sept. 16 Putnam County Commission meeting opened with a Planning and Zoning hearing on a request to build a new 255-foot cell tower on land owned by 83-year-old BJ Weems, whose family has been on the property at 1103 Oconee Springs Road for nearly a century.

Separate vehicle pursuits result in two arrests

Both Greene County law enforcement agencies were involved in vehicle pursuits last week.According to a report obtained from the Greensboro Police Department, officers were patrolling the area of Memorial Drive on Sept. 7 when they observed a male driving a four-wheeler on North East Street.

Battalion Chief Chris Eddy of Greene County Fire and Rescue was honored by area firefighters, local government officials, and many friends and admirers at a ceremony held at Greene County’s Fire Department headquarters on the anniversary of his 2024 death.
