Pit Stop convenience store burglarized

The Pit Stop convenience store on Seven Islands Road was burglarized on May 11, according to police reports. Deputy Christopher Lash said the clerk advised that counter cabinets near the cash register were open when she entered the store at 4 a.m. Cartons of cigarettes were missing from them.

Memorial Day event planned

MORGAN COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE Morgan County deputies set up safety checkpoints at Parks Mill and Reeds Ferry roads as well as Godfrey and Indian Creek roads on May 11. One verbal warning was issued. A safety checkpoint was also set up at Old Mill and Davis Academy roads. Two warnings were issued.

Deputy involved in scary altercation with suspect

A South Carolina man was arrested on multiple charges May 11 after scuffling with a Greene County deputy. Daquan Kinloch, 26, of Huger, was charged with obstruction of an officer, financial transaction card forgery, identity fraud and attempted removal of a weapon from a public official.
