LOA’s Tucker to retire, sort of

Lake Oconee Academy CEO since 2007, Dr. Otho Tucker, has told teachers, students and parents that after next year, he will step back from running the highly successful Greene County Charter School. “I’ll still be here a certain percentage of time,” he told the Lake Oconee News on Tuesday.

LOA v. BOE lawsuit - deal or no deal?

At a special called meeting on Tuesday night, the Lake Oconee Academy Board of Governors voted to approve a settlement offer to be sent to the Greene County Board of Education. Upon approval by both boards, LOA would end its two yearlong lawsuit over funding against the BOE.

LOA remembers former student Spencer Bradley

Lake Oconee Academy held a service on Friday night at Tucker Field to remember former student Spencer Bradley, who tragically passed away last week. He was a soccer player for the Titans and was a member of the class of 2021.

Virginia woman killed in I-20 crash

A Virginia woman was killed in an accident on I-20 in Greene County June 2, according to the Georgia State Patrol. Chris Ann Hix, 67, was a passenger in a 2012 Mercedes E350 driven by 83-year-old David Lee Phillips of McCormick, South Carolina.
