A Madison police officer arrested a Bridgeport, Connecticut, man on multiple charges June 6 following an eventful traffic stop on I-20 east bound.
Stephane Kazadi, 46, was charged with disorderly conduct, reckless driving, DUI (refusal), failure to maintain lane, driving without a license, possession of marijuana (less than 1 ounce), failure to yield to an emergency vehicle and open container.
According to the report, Officer Blake Rowe located to the bottom of the Exit 113 ramp east after he was advised that a vehicle was driving erratically on the interstate.
When Rowe saw the vehicle pass his location, he caught up to it and noticed that the driver was failing to maintain his lane and braking erratically, according to the report.
Rowe turned on his emergency lights, but the vehicle did not stop. Rowe asked Deputy Cameron Ptak for assistance.
When Ptak arrived, he passed Kazadi’s SUV and forced him to slow down. Kazadi stopped in the middle of the right lane, but when Rowe approached Kazadi attempted to pull off.
According to the report, Rowe hit the side of Kazadi’s car and ordered him to stop, put the SUV in park and exit the vehicle. Kazadi complied but failed to follow instructions the officer gave him regarding standard field sobriety tests. When Kazadi was given a portable breathalyzer test, Rowe received a positive result (.163).
Kazadi told Rowe his name was Sterge Bowa. After he arrived at the jail, fingerprints revealed his real name to be Stephane Kazadi.
