Rodney Wiggins’ desire to be a career firefighter has been a goal of the new Greene County Fire Chief from his early years growing up in Jonesboro.
Both Wiggins’ grandfather and father were firefighters in Georgia. In 1948, his grandfather established Jonesboro’s volunteer department.

Piedmont Water hikes Reynolds rates as water tests conclude

Piedmont Water’s 30-day test period is scheduled to conclude this week for its new $15 million water treatment plant serving the Reynolds Water System.
The facility will pull and treat up to two million gallons of water each day from Lake Oconee.

Lister announces bid for newly open seat on Greensboro council

A Greensboro City Council seat has opened up with the resignation of Tony Roland, who just won the position in the last election.
Jeff Lister, a Greensboro resident since 2019, is throwing his name into the ring for a special called election to be held later in November.

Supreme Court overturns McIver’s murder conviction

A light has appeared at the end of the tunnel for Claude “Tex” McIver, who was convicted in April 2018 in the shooting death of his wife, Diane, and sentenced to life in prison.
Last week, the Supreme Court of Georgia overturned the murder conviction.
