Airabella Lake Oconee breaks ground on big development

Greensboro’s first “Live, Work, Play” community is now well underway following last week’s groundbreaking at its site on Linger Longer Road. Christened Airabella Lake Oconee, it is being built on 137 acres off Linger Longer Road and will bring a new housing concept to the Lake Oconee area.

Sisters arrested for cashing fake money orders

Eatonton Police Department officer Mike Hancock responded to a call at Piggly Wiggly Oct. 13 regarding false money orders, according to police reports. Shanita Denham had cashed two money orders for $1,000 each; and her sister, Dametric Dennis, had cashed one for $1,000.

Draft agreement signed, LOA-BOE settlement near

Just 12 days after school officials announced a preliminary agreement to settle Lake Oconee Academy’s two-year-long lawsuit against the Greene County Board of Education, both boards have approved a draft agreement. It happened Monday night during a called meeting of the two boards.

Man found dead near Greensboro Post Office

Greensboro police officers were dispatched to the Greensboro Post Office on Oct. 17 in reference to an unresponsive male found on the steps who was cold to the touch. According to the Greensboro Police Department, the deceased man was identified as 53-year-old Walter Jordan, 53, of Siloam.

Burglar pauses for a cup of java at Madison City Hall

A burglar who was brazen enough to break into Madison’s temporary city hall and make himself a pot of coffee after ransacking several city offices has been arrested. Jimmy Lee Love, 65, of Madison faces theft and criminal damage to property charges following the incident.
