GREENE COUNTY
Pulte Homes, builder of Del Webb, was given rezoning approval to make an existing 50.5-acre site a planned Unit Development (PUD) from its former A1 agriculture designation.
The acreage is in the northeast corner of the large 55-and-older community on Askew Road. As of now, it is the only 55-and-older community in Greene County with the exception of the Cottages at Baynes Creek, which is currently under development.
Brian Dickson of Del Webb’s Financial Committee spoke to the commissioners and said he was in favor of the additional builds, as was resident Bill Murray.
“Especially with the current state of inflation, this gives us a greater number of homes and helps keep our overhead costs in check,” said Dickson.
Current appointees to two county committees were voted on and given approval to continue in their roles: Ted Backer of the Board of Elections and Paul McGill and Alex Brazier on the Airport Advisory Committee.
Swamp Camp Service, Inc., a recreational development in Greene County, was given conditional use approval for a recreation development on 178 acres at 1390 Maxeys Road. It is a global organization that offers summer camp services, retreats and special occasions. According to County Manager Byron Lombard, this brought the existing facility into conformity with county regulation.
