Former MCHS assistant principal sentenced to 25 years

Almost a decade after he left North Oconee High School to replace retiring assistant principal Kenny Moore at Morgan County High School, Ryan Rickard has been sentenced to 25 years with 15 years to be served in confinement and the remainder on probation, according to court documents.

Greene County museum celebrates African-American History

The Greene County African American History Museum is only about 16 months old but it has been living in Mamie Hillman’s heart for decades.
The museum’s founder and director grew up in White Plains and attended what was then the all-black Hubert English Elementary School.

Plans for former bank branch outlined by city manager

A bank building purchased by the city of Greensboro intended for a new city hall has sat vacant for a number of years at 201 South Main St.
The purchase, made in 2018, came from earlier discussions and planning from a city comprehensive plan as far back as 2002.

Greensboro man arrested after giving a false name to a deputy

A Greensboro man who brought cognac and marijuana with him to the Lake Oconee Academy campus on Valentine’s Day was arrested by a Greene County deputy and ultimately charged with giving a false name to a law enforcement officer.
