Piedmont Water fined by EPD for sewage spill

Private utility outlines protective measures in place per consent order A sewage spill leading to the waters of Lake Oconee in February has led to a fine being levied against Piedmont Water as well as corrective action per a consent order given to the company.

Door-to-door solicitors arrested at sheriff’s house

Two door-to-door salesmen picked the wrong house Saturday and ended up in the Putnam County jail. Putnam County Sheriff Howard Sills was outside working in his yard Saturday afternoon when two men in a pickup truck pulled into his driveway.

PCHS graduates largest-ever senior class

Putnam County High School (PCHS) celebrated its largest-ever senior class when 202 graduates were named in a ceremony May 26, at Al Reaves Field in Eatonton. PCHS Principal Dr. Andrew Cooper expressed immense pride when discussing the accomplishments of the graduates.

Ride for America: 25th annual event honors fallen heroes

On the morning of May 29, hundreds of people lined up on Main Street in Madison to witness the annual Ride For America (RFA), held each Memorial Day to honor and remember those who have died in service to the country.
