Juvenile vandals confess, sent to confinement

Two juveniles who went on a vandalism spree Aug. 3-4 are headed to the Wilkes County Regional Youth Detention Center as a result of their actions.
According to police reports, the first vandalism was reported at the Madison-Morgan Food Pantry.

Concerned motorist’s call results in drug arrest

A man driving eastbound on I-20 wound up in the Greene County jail on Aug. 5, after a concerned citizen phoned in a report of a vehicle being driven recklessly on the interstate.
Damon Keon Foley, 47, of Grovetown now faces multiple charges, including trafficking cocaine.

Authorities seek public’s help for dog abandoned in heat

A small dog was found in a crate on the side of the road Sunday, and authorities are seeking the public’s help finding the person who left him.
“They just abandoned it on the side of the road in 100-degree temperatures,” Eatonton Police Chief Howell Cardwell said.

The Georgia Writers Museum in downtown Eatonton welcomed more than 60 lovers of the written word Saturday afternoon for the reveal of its newest exhibit featuring Terry Kay, who passed away nearly three years ago. The Kay exhibit officially opens to the public this Thursday.

Morgan County government bodies establish millage rates

The property tax picture in Morgan County is becoming clear as government entities adopt millage rates.
The City of Madison adopted a millage rate of 5.424 citywide, which will obligate a Madison resident to pay for $217 in property taxes for each $100,000 of property owned.
