Harbor Club residents seek control over community issues

Residents of Harbor Club have formed a task group to address taking control of the Property Owners Association (POA). This comes on the heels of concerns addressed earlier in the year about a big subdivision that was proposed adjacent to Harbor Club, which, for now, is off the table.

All is ‘Merry and Bright’ for rescued dog

A dog that fell into the lake on a recent cold night ended up being warmed by the compassion and care of the community. The dog had been wandering around in the yard in the dark at Pete and Fran Mattix’s house on Lake Sinclair around 10 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2, according to a social media post.

Did deputies derail drone delivery?

Two men who appeared to be preparing to deliver contraband to area prisons using a drone were arrested on Nov. 28 by Greene County deputies, following a traffic stop. The driver of the vehicle fled on foot and, as of Dec. 5, has eluded capture. Dondriko Travis Hoke, 23, of 2133 Green Forest Dr.

Putnam man killed in car crash

A single-car crash claimed the life of a Putnam County man over the weekend, according to authorities. Joseph Gary Roebuck, 35, had already died when deputies arrived at the crash scene on the 200 block of Little River Trail, Putnam County Sheriff Howard Sills said.

LOA approves charter renewal application

The dispute between Lake Oconee Academy and the Greene County Board of Education concerning the renewal of LOA’s charter continued on Dec. 4 with the LOA board approving a version of the application that will be submitted to the state.
