Annual Christmas concert brings holiday cheer

    The sanctuary was full, and the music flowing from the orchestra and choir was the perfect start for the holiday season in Lake Country.

    Greensboro First United Methodist Church continued its tradition of bringing in the community to experience a holiday concert that heralds the arrival of Christmas with favorite holiday selections for the attendees.

    Tyler Stampe, 35, heads up the music ministry and has been the music director for the church since 2022. He received his doctorate in Music Composition from the University of Georgia in 2018 and was formerly with Ashford Memorial Methodist Church in a similar capacity for almost eight years.

    “I have very much enjoyed working with the church choir and the enormous talent here,” Stampe said. “It has been great to showcase to the community the work we do here and to especially see everyone tonight enjoying the program.”

    Christmas favorites, such as “Silent Night,” “Little Drummer Boy,” “Hark the Angels Sing” and “Joy to the World” were on the performance schedule.

    Attendees were asked to stand and join in singing. The church is planning another similar program during Palm Sunday at Easter next year.
