Morgan County woman killed in tragic accident

The Georgia State Patrol is investigating the death of a Morgan County woman who was killed April 26 when she fell out of a vehicle traveling on Linger Longer Road in the Reynolds Lake Oconee area of Greene County.

According to a preliminary report that was obtained by The Lake Oconee News from the Georgia State Patrol on May 1, troopers were contacted to investigate a single-vehicle accident that resulted in the death of Whitney Wooster.

The preliminary investigation determined a red Jeep Wrangler driven by Robby Wooster was traveling north on Linger Longer Road when the passenger's side door opened, and Whitney Wooster, who was a passenger in the vehicle, fell out.

“As of now, it has not been determined how or what caused the passenger to fall from the vehicle," the report said. “It is believed that as the passenger fell out, she rotated down and partially under the vehicle. It is believed that the vehicle ran over her, causing serious injuries. The driver and passenger were suspected to be impaired during this. It is unknown if driver impairment caused or induced the incident.

“Wooster was flown to Augusta Medical for emergency medical treatment, but succumbed to her injuries. The Georgia State Patrol's Specialized Reconstruction Team (SCRT) is assisting with this investigation.”

Greene County Emergency Management Agency Director Joe Bashore said EMS units arrived on the scene shortly after the accident.

Wooster was killed on her wedding anniversary, according to the GoFundMe account.

“On what should have been a day of celebration — her and Robby’s anniversary — an off-roading accident took Whitney from us far too soon. The shock of losing her so unexpectedly has left a hole in our family and our community that can never be filled,” the GoFundMe page reads.

“Whitney was a light to everyone who knew her. She was full of life, always smiling, always laughing, and had an incredible way of making everyone around her feel loved. She loved being outside, working in her beautiful garden, and soaking up every bit of sunshine she could find. Her joy was contagious, and her spirit was truly unforgettable.

“Above all, Whitney was a devoted mother to her four beautiful children. Her babies were her world, and she poured every ounce of her heart into loving and raising them. Everything she did — from the little moments to the big milestones — was for them. Her love for her family was evident in everything she touched.”

According to the obituary, Wooster “delighted in life’s simple joys — basking in sunshine, tending her garden, and cherishing moments with loved ones. Her passion for family and her lively personality endeared her to the community. Whether cultivating her garden or sharing laughter with friends, Whitney brightened every space she entered. Tragically, a traffic accident abruptly ended Whitney’s life, stealing her from her family and friends far too soon.”

Funeral arrangements and details will be announced soon, according to the obituary.
