Lake Oconee Academy’s youngest students celebrated the 100th day of school on Jan. 15.
Students within Pre-K and Kindergarten arrived at school in style, dressed as if they were 100 years old, with props and costumes including glasses, canes, cardigans, and gray wigs.
According to a recent article from the school, the 100th day is a highly anticipated annual occasion among the students. During the day, teachers worked with students in hands-on activities all involving the number 100, including “counting collections, building with 100 items, and wearing 100th Day hats.”
“This day is always one of my favorite days of school,” said LOA Kindergarten Assistant Nancy Jaronski. “It’s such a joyful way to reflect on how much our students have grown since the first day of school.”
Alongside the costume and learning festivities, Kindergarten students ate a special breakfast, with pancakes and sausage links “arranged to spell out the number 100.”
Lisa Weaver, a kindergarten teacher at Lake Oconee Academy, shared why she sees the annual occasion as a meaningful day for both the students and their teachers.
“I just love seeing how cute the kids look dressed up,” Weaver said. “They are so proud of themselves, and that pride shines through everything they do today.”
